Hello,
My name is Laura Ha, and in Korean I also go by the name Sim Gyeol(심결). Since childhood, I have loved books, and I also majored in Western classical music with the piano as my instrument.

Reading books written in Hangeul opened up countless new worlds and ideas to me, and led me to deep reflection. I often thought, “The world is so wide, there is so much to do—what is my place within it?”

I first learned to read Hangeul when I was four years old. My mother then bought me picture books filled with beautiful illustrations. I would spend hours with those books—reading, looking at the pictures, rolling around on the floor with them, and sometimes falling into deep thought: “How did this situation happen?” or “What would I do if I were in this story?”

When I finished those books, my mother gave me others with fewer pictures and more text. After I devoured those, she provided me with collections of Korean and world biographies, as well as classic masterpieces of world literature. I dove into the world of books written in Hangeul, swimming through them as though embarking on vast adventures of exploration.

Throughout my life, books in my mother tongue, Hangeul, have continually guided me into wider and greater worlds. For me, Hangeul has truly been my window through which I see the world and the source of many dreams.

At the same time, I began to feel a deep desire to share Hangeul with people beyond Korea – whose spoken and written words are different – so that they, too, could discover the profound beauty and mystery of my country, see the world through Korean language and culture, and be inspired to dream.  

This is why I created this blog.
I invite you, too, to begin with Hangeul and embark on your own journey of exploring the wonders and beauty of Korea.
